                               God and Creation

 

“Some think creation’s meant to show Him forth;

I say it’s meant to hide Him all it can”.

     Now, I had always thought creation was designed

To illustrate the handiwork of God and shew,

Through simple parables, the way to reach His mind.

     Then I discovered Browning put an opposite

Construction on the purpose of those things!. We know

Creation is, but “Why?” is what we ask!. Is it

For us, or us for it?. And does it signify,

Importantly, whatever we decide?. Dare we —

Who only partly know this world and cannot scry

What are in other planets or star-galaxies

That we locate — deny Divinity and think

Ourselves superior to all existing things?.

I have strong doubts for — if religion’s God really exists —

He’s both revealed and hidden by countless uncertainties.
